Sagnik Patra, born on September 16, 2000, in Contai, West Bengal, is a filmmaker whose artistic journey has woven through the diverse tapestry of India. Having traversed cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Lucknow during his childhood, Sagnik developed a unique perspective on human interactions, and miscommunications – a theme that would later become a cornerstone of his filmmaking.

In 2021, Sagnik completed his Bachelor’s in Statistics, but his passion for storytelling through the lens beckoned him toward the world of filmmaking. Armed with a vision, he collaborated with an actor friend to independently produce three short films, showcasing a remarkable ability to create compelling narratives with minimal resources.

Eager to refine his craft, Sagnik embarked on a new chapter in his artistic journey by enrolling in the Masters in Filmmaking program at EICAR in Paris. His debut professionally made student short film, “Small Talk,” stands as a testament to his dedication and creative prowess. Sagnik’s cinematic narratives revolve around individuals grappling with the challenge of effective communication. As Sagnik continues to hone his skills, his directorial voice promises to resonate with audiences, offering profound insights into the intricacies of human connection.
